(Chittenango, NY) Chittenango resident Danielle Glasso ventured to Louisville, Ken., Nov. 6 to participate in the Eastern National 4H Horse Roundup.
Glasso was selected to compete in the Public Speaking Division after winning the New York state Title in May. In Louisville, students from New York competed against other state winners from 29 states including Ohio, Michigan and Arkansas in several events including the Public Speaking portion.
Glasso’s presentation focused on the history and traditions of the Army Division known as the “Old Guard,” many of which are still in use today during ceremonial events at our National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Glasso placed ninth in the competition, an excellent showing at the national level. In addition to the competition, students participating visited Churchill Downs and Derby Park while spending time trading “horse stories” with fellow competitors.
Somewhat tired but elated, Glasso said the “competition was a great experience” and “Kentucky was awesome.”
