To the people of the Town of Sullivan, my name is Kerry Ranger and I am running for a seat on the Sullivan Town Board. I am asking for your help and support to achieve this goal. I am proud to have three lines of endorsements: the Democratic, Independence and the Conservative parties.
I grew up on central New York, and am a graduate of Cicero High School and SUNY Morrisville. I own and operate a floor covering business in the village of North Syracuse. My aim is to be voice for the people of this town and to play a proactive role in the growth of the Town of Sullivan with the people’s position in hand.
I am a full-time resident of the town and will treat this position with the respect it deserves.
As a small business owner, I understand and support sensible growth with a focus on our agricultural and recreational resources. Our town is involved in multiple projects, which I applaud, but some needed to be better analyzed to save the taxpayers’ money.
We have the American Legion renovation project which has $100,000 in cost over-runs. The Bridgeport Sewer District has more questions than answers as far as cost-per-household, capacity, water infiltration at East Sullivan and not to mention the fact that Sylvan Beach has not agreed to accept and process our sewage.
Add in extra legal and archeologists’ fees and a proposed cost based on 2009 figures, when we begin to dig in 2010, materials and services will cost more. We received $500,000 in grant money to build a permanent fishing pier that Mother Nature will decide if our matching taxpayer money was a good investment.
One of our neighboring towns is spending $400,000 on a complete reassessment of the town for full valuation. We need to watch this process closely, as it could be the model for our future tax assessments.
We have good leadership in place, but our town needs a strong Council behind it. We must have someone who is looking at the whole picture, not just locally. We have a massive national debt and foreign nations holding the mortgage on it. If the U.S. dollar loses its status as the world’s currency and these nations quit buying up our debt, it could spell disaster for our country. We have to stop wasteful government spending. We could use that money wiser on a local level helping farmers, elderly, war veterans and people on fixed incomes to make ends meet.
We need jobs for our young people.
I look at our town and see a lot of great assets. The village of Chittenango has a hometown atmosphere which should be preserved for all generations.
Oneida lake accents the town from Bridgeport to Lakeport.
I got involved in this race with one desire in mind: to bring back government for the people. This is not a new concept. It’s what our founding fathers designed it to be. I am not a politician; I am a small businessman who is in touch with the working class people.
Help me with your vote. I give you my word I will not let you down. Spread the word “Vote for Kerry.”
Thank you.
Kerry Ranger, Bridgeport
