After waiting an entire business day for legal representatives to unimpound the ballots for the Madison County Board of Elections, the unofficial results from Sullivan 3, the Bridgeport polling district in the town of Sullivan, Sullivan Town Council candidate – challenger Kerry Ranger (D,C,I – Bridgeport) has cut incumbent David O. Miner’s 94-vote lead to a mere 52 votes with 166 absentee ballots out.
As of Wednesday morning, 111 of those absentee ballots had been returned to the Board of Elections.
With Bridgeport’s numbers included in the unofficial count for town council, incumbent Thomas J. Kopp (R,C,I) will return to his seat with 2,341 votes; Miner takes a distant second with 1,636 votes, and Ranger’s vote count currently stands at 1,584.
Counting of absentee ballots will begin next week, with the results to be certified after Nov. 16 when the deadline for receipt of military absentee ballots runs out.
