The Madison County Clerk and DMV office is still inaccessible to county residents who cannot reach it during its regular office hours and who have no transportation to Wampsville. Unlike in some neighboring counties, its way of serving the public has not moved into the 21st century.
Charles McMahon, a Vietnam veteran and paramedic for 26 years, is a resident of Oneida with a MBA from the School of Business at SUNY IT in Utica. With varied experiences in innovative office management, he will bring a new approach to a department that has been run internally for 25 years. He promises to keep its qualified personnel, including the new deputy clerk, but wants to provide new leadership to make the office more efficient and customer friendly.
The County Clerk is like the Sheriff a non-political official who should be chosen solely on the basis of managerial qualifications and proven leadership skills. I have known Charles for a number of years and discussed with him making the services of the County Clerk’s office more readily accessible by e-mail, regular mail and enlisting the cooperation of the Town Clerks in southern Madison County. This he will do if given the opportunity by the voters on November 3rd.
