Every year the Sound of Silver Chorus gives scholarships to local graduating high school music students pursuing a career in music. Talented students are nominated by their music teachers.
The schools invited to participate are those in the districts where the chorus members live. This year districts included were Oneida City, Baldwinsville, Holland Patent, Remsen, Morrisville, Fayetteville-Manlius, Chittenango, Canastota, Clinton, New Hartford, Oriskany, and Whitesboro.
Jasmine Smith of Oneida High School is the recipient of this year’s scholarship. Jasmine plays alto sax, sings and participated in various musicals throughout her high school career.
She will be attending SUNY at Oneonta this fall.
Smith was invited to visit the chorus to receive her award.
