(Oneida, NY) A letter to Mayor Peter Hedglon from Oneida Fire Chief Donald Hudson dated Oct. 28 places fire engine 291 out of service as a result of failing state vehicle inspection on Oct. 27.
“During the inspection additional cracks were found in the frame and in accordance with NYS Vehicle Inspection procedures the vehicle could not be approved for highway use,” Hudson said in the letter. “We will make an attempt to bring in outside agencies to see what if anything can be done short of replacing the entire frame.”
The city now has three firefighting vehicles and one rescue truck in operation.
