To the editor:
I’m writing to thank the residents of the 4th ward in the City of Oneida for their support in the November 3rd election. I’m grateful for the support and encouragement I received during the campaign from those who I had a chance to talk with while walking the ward. I’m grateful for those who placed lawn signs on my behalf, I think we picked them all up; if I missed one at your residence please give me a call.
I had a brief conversation with Councilor Marcia Rafte on election night when she came to Democratic headquarters to offer her congratulations. Marcia was gracious as always and I ask all of you to join me in thanking her for her many years of service to the City of Oneida and Madison County. In the brief time we had to talk on election night we discussed some issues affecting the ward and the city in general. She continues to be committed to her job as 4th Ward Common Councilor through the end of her term.
There’s work left to be done by the present Common Council and Mayor before the end of this year including finalization of the 2010 budget and a decision to be made on the purchase of a new fire truck. I encourage the residents of the 4th ward and all city residents to attend council and budget meetings and let your Common Councilor and Mayor Hedglon know how you feel about these and other issues. The obligations of citizenship don’t end on Election Day; November 3rd is just the beginning.
When I take office in January I’ll do my best to keep 4th ward residents informed about what’s going on at City Hall and will continue to encourage everyone to attend Common Council meetings and contact me with questions and concerns. Again, many thanks to the residents of the 4th ward.
