Every year the Sound of Silver Chorus gives scholarships to local graduating high school music students pursuing a career in music. Talented students are nominated by their music teachers. The schools invited to participate are those in the districts where the chorus members live. This year districts included were Oneida City, Baldwinsville, Holland Patent, Remsen, Morrisville, Fayetteville-Manlius, Chittenango, Canastota, Clinton, New Hartford, Oriskany, and Whitesboro.
A scholarship given in memory of Doris Peters, a charter member of Sound of Silver, was given to a graduating music student Brittany Greene from Oneida High School.
Greene was invited to visit the chorus to receive her award.
