The Madison-Oneida Chapter of the American Red Cross/Dunkin Donuts December Volunteer of the Month is youth board member, Matt Bonville of Wampsville.
Two years ago, Matt submitted his resume along with many others for a youth position on the Madison-Oneida Chapter American Red Cross Board of Directors. What a wise choice we made, inviting Matt on to the Board. He has accepted his position with great enthusiasm and participates in all events and meetings.
Along with the responsibility of being on the board, Matt took the initiative and leadership responsibility and coordinated a Red Cross Club at Oneida High School. As president of this club, Matt organized two new fundraisers last year: the Super Bowl Sub Sale and the March (Red Cross Month) Spaghetti Dinner.
He is busy working on them again for this year.
Matt also is helping to schedule Disaster Services classes to help ensure that he and his peers are able to assist in their community in the event of a disaster.
The Chapter is always seeking volunteers to work on local bloodmobiles, disasters and those to teach CPR/first aid and babysitting classes. Other opportunities exist for people who want to volunteer but cannot make a regular time commitment, helping with events and projects.
For more information on volunteering with the American Red Cross please contact the Madison-Oneida Chapter Office at 363-2900.
