Paige Stone netted a hat-trick to lead host Wells College women’s soccer to a 4-1 conference win over Morrisville State College Thursday afternoon Oct. 15 in Aurora.
Wells held the 1-0 lead at the half, with Stone netting her first of the afternoon off a rebound in the 20th minute, giving the Express the one goal advantage over the Mustangs.
In the second, Stone struck twice in less than a minute, her second of the afternoon at 58:37 and the third at 59:29, extending the lead to three.
Kristin Smith (Hamilton, NY) attempted to spark an offensive strike for Morrisville State, netting an unassisted score in the 64th minute, but Wells put the game away with a fourth Express score from Rachel Mattraw at 77:42.
Cheyanna Waters (Woodhull, NY) saved six in the loss for Morrisville State, as the Mustangs fall to 2-10 on the season, 1-6 in NEAC action.
Britteney Laurenceau secured the win in net, saving two for Wells.
Wells held the 17-5 advantage in shots and edged the Mustangs 2-1 in corner kicks on the afternoon.
Morrisville State returns to the field Sunday, Oct. 18 traveling to Penn State Abington for a 1p.m. contest.
