(Morrisville) Sage College’s sophomore forward Rebecca Marszalek netted a hat trick to lead the Gators (1-0) in the 6-0 non-conference soccer win over Morrisville State College Wednesday afternoon at the University of Albany.
Marszalek gave the Gators the early lead, netting her first score of the afternoon just 5:18 into the contest. Nearly 14 minutes later, Marszalek added a second as Sage took the 2-0 lead into the halftime period.
In the second half, Amanda Potter extended the lead to three in the 59th minute before Kendall Wilbert and Marszalek added two quick scores within a two-minute window for the commanding 5-0 Gator lead.
Laura Tisinger rounded out Sage scoring with an unassisted goal at 78:05.
Morrisville State’s Cheyanna Waters (Woodhull, NY) saved 14 in the loss in the net, as the Mustangs were out shot 38-0 in the contest.
Morrisville State (0-1) returns to the field Sunday afternoon, hosting SUNY Maritime College at 1 p.m. at Lemery Field on the Morrisville State campus.
Morrisville State begins active membership within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2009-10 and is eligible for NCAA Championship Tournament play.
