GENEVA, N.Y. – Morrisville State College sophomore runner, Stephanie Page (Nunda, NY/Houghton Academy) and freshman Peyton Williams (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michaels) led the Mustangs at the Hobart College Invitational Saturday in Geneva, NY.
Page crossed the finish line 26:57 for sixth place overall to lead the women’s team, who ran the 6K race incomplete. Elizabeth Peck (Antwerp, NY/Indian River) was the next Mustang to finish, placing 21st overall with a time of 29:04, followed closely by teammate Brittany Ellis (Camillus, NY/West Genesee) in 25th at 29:26.
William Smith won the invitational, compiling 34 team points with SUNY ESF finishing in second with 50 and Keuka in third with a team score of 67.
The men’s team finished seventh overall in the 8K race, with Williams leading the team with an individual 24th place finish at 32:58. Carl Tausend (Cato, NY/Cato-Meridian) crossed the line next for the Mustangs, finishing in 34:43 for 39th place.
Devin Conner (Rose, NY/North Rose Wolcott), Curtis Roberson (Brooklyn, NY/Oakwood), Alfonso Dallas (Syracuse, NY/Fowler), Edgar Linian (Brooklyn, NY/McKinley) and Justin Kondrat (Middlegrove, NY/Galway) rounded out the Mustang runners, finishing in 48th through 52nd position respectively.
Hobart won the invitational with 36 team points, followed by SUNY IT with 73, and SUNY ESF with 89 to round out the top three.
Morrisville State begins active membership within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2009-10 and is eligible for NCAA Championship Tournament play.
