(Morrisville, NY) The Morrisville State College athletic department has named sophomore hunt seat equestrian rider Katie Northrop (Brighton, NY) and junior ice hockey forward, Bobby Cass (Burlington, ONT) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 15, 2009.

Northrop finished second in both the novice over fences and novice on the flat classes in Saturday’s competition before regrouping on Sunday to lead the hunt seat team to show championship honors, with first place finishes in both novice classes while earning reserve high point rider honors.

The graduate of Brighton High School is majoring in equine science and management at Morrisville State. Northrop is the daughter of Meg and Ron Northrop of Brighton.

Cass tallied two goals over the weekend to assist Morrisville State hockey to a 1-1 week. On Friday he netted the Mustangs first score of the night and later in the contest scored the game winner with less than three minutes remaining in the game to lift Morrisville State to the 5-3 win over Potsdam.

A graduate of Lord Elgin High School, Cass is majoring in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. He is the son of May and Bob Cass of Burlington, Ontario.
