NJCU holds on for win over Morrisville State men thumbnail

(Nov. 21, 2009) New Jersey City University men’s basketball narrowly escaped Morrisville State College Saturday afternoon Nov. 21 in the consolation round of the Oswego State tip-off tournament, picking up the 53-49 victory in Oswego.

Tied at the half, NJCU led by as many as 10 in the second half before Morrisville State cut into the double digit lead late in the period.

Morrisville State’s Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY) hit a three with seconds to go to cut the lead to four, but the Mustangs ran out of time as NJCU notched the win.

Bryan Eddy (Brooklyn, NY) led Morrisville State with 14 points, grabbing six rebounds, while Gordon and Hodges Sneed (Syracuse, NY) each tallied 10 in the Mustang efforts, with Sneed grabbing nine boards.

Josh Lopez had 11 on the night to lead NJCU while Taquan Abdullah added eight points and two blocked shots to the team’s tallies.

Morrisville State (0-3) returns to the court Friday, Dec. 4 at Clarkson University.
