MORRISVILLE, N.Y. –Through harsh wind and rain, the Morrisville State College men’s soccer team lost a tough match today to Keuka College with a final score of 2-0, making the Mustangs’ overall record 3-6-1.
Players from both teams slipped and slid on Lemery Field as conditions worsened throughout the first 45 minutes of play. With the wind to the Storm’s favor in the first half, Keuka fired nine shots to Morrisville’s keeper Greg Igglesden (Norwich, NY).
With less than three minutes left in the first half, Christian Sterner (Castorland, NY) netted Keuka’s first goal of the game off a corner from Jack Reese (Rochester, NY). The Mustangs went into halftime cold, muddy and down by one.
In the second half, the Keuka Storm faced the wind against them as the Mustangs tried using the wind to their favor, shooting two at Keuka’s Mike Meskill (Trumansburg, NY).
In the 67th minute of play, Reece netted a second goal for the Storm, making the score 2-0 with less than 25 minutes left in the second half.
