Host Wells College Express netted two second half goals to post a comeback 2-1 victory over Morrisville State College men’s soccer Thursday afternoon Oct. 15 in Aurora. The loss drops Morrisville State to 3-7-1 overall, their sixth straight.
Morrisville State’s Andrew Stein (Oswego, NY) capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity in the 26th minute in the first half to give the Mustangs the one goal lead.
Twelve minutes into the second half, Wells Blasdimil Gomez fired the first Express score past Morrisville State keeper Greg Igglesden (Norwich, NY), tying the game at one apiece.
With just over eight minutes remaining, Cody Glassman gave the Express the 2-1 lead with a shot that deflected off Igglesden’s fingertips into the net.
Igglesden saved four in the loss for the Mustangs. Morrisville State returns to the field Sunday, Oct. 18 traveling to Penn State Abington for a 3 p.m. start.
Mike Birklin secured the win for Wells, posting 11 saves, as Morrisville State held the 22-17 advantage in shots over the Express.
