(Morrisville) The Morrisville Public Library will be closed Friday Jan. 1 and Saturday Jan. 2 in observance of New Year’s Day. We will return to our normal hours the following Monday.

The Morrisville Public Library has new hours for 2010:  They are Monday, Wednesday, Friday noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Canned Food Drive: We will be accepting canned food items for the Morrisville Food Pantry during the months of January and February.  But, there is a catch.  If you owe fines at the library, we are going to help you out.  For every item you donate, we will take $1 off your outstanding fines.  So if you donate 20 items, we will take $20 off your account.  This is for the entire months of January and February, so clean that account up by the end of February and start the New Year off right.

Elvis Presley: Join us on Friday, Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. for Elvis Presley’s birthday.  Come see Elvis impersonator Wayne Curtis, and learn about Presley’s life.

Kiddies Korner: Kiddies Korner, our preschool story hour, will meet on Tuesday Jan. 12 at 9:30 a.m.  Come hear some stories and songs as we talk about “Sleepy Time.”

Caldecott Series: To start the New Year off right, we will have a Caldecott series that meets every month to read and have fun with the Caldecott winners.  The first book will be “The House in the Night” by Susan Marie Swanson.  Join us on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 6:30 p.m. as we have fun with this book.

Craft-a-palooza: Craft-a-palooza will be Friday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m.  Join us as we make some zany crafts and have lots of fun.

The Morrisville Public Library will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day. We will return to our normal hours the following Tuesday.

Movie Night: Join us for the movie, “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” on Friday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m.  Bring the family in and a bag of popcorn to share and enjoy this movie on the big screen.

Kiddies Korner: Kiddies Korner, our preschool story hour, is back on Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 9:30 a.m. The topic this week is “Let it Snow.”

Puzzle Day: Join us for National Puzzle Day Friday, Jan. 29, at 6:30 p.m.  We will play and create some wild puzzles and try to solve some even trickier ones.
