MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College cross country teams participated in the Steven A. Ward Invitational held at Holyoke Community College.
Matt Benjamin, a freshman on the team, finished 87 out of 138 runners with a time of 34:12. Benjamin was followed closely by Peyton Williams (Bronx, NY) coming in at 88 with an average mile time of 6:53.
Next to come in for Morrisville was Carl Tausend (Cato, NY) finishing 91 out of 138 contestants. Sophomores Devon Connor (Rose, NY), Alfonso Dallas (Syracuse, NY) and Adam Hauck (Vernon Center, NY) all finished within one minute of each other, placing 128th, 130th and 134th.
Curtis Roberson (Brooklyn, NY) finished with an average mile time of 8:50 and Edgar Linian (Brooklyn, NY) with an average of 9:13.
The team rank for the men was 12 with a total time of 3:05:07.
Stephanie Page (Nunda, NY) finished 17th out of 112 runners with an average mile time of 6:33, giving Morrisville only 16 points. Freshman Kelcie Degenfelder (Collins, NY) landed a number 56 spot, finishing in 22:52 and acquiring 51 points.
Following Degenfelder came Brittany Ellis (Camillus, NY) in 23:05, Regina Laws (Uniondale, NY) in 23:30, and Elizabeth Peck (Antwerp, NY) in 23:31, all finishing 70 and below.
The women were ranked nine with a total time of 1:53 and 244 total points.
The next meet for both the men and women is Sept. 19 at the Bard College Invitational.
