DeMulder leads Hartwick to 49-25 win over Morrisville State thumbnail

Tosh DeMulder carried the ball for 167 yards and five scores to lead the Hartwick College Hawks to a 49-25 victory over Morrisville State College (Sept. 5) Saturday night in Oneonta.

Hartwick jumped out to an early 7-0 lead at 10:16 in the first quarter on a two-yard run from DeMulder, completing the 30-yard drive for the score. Morrisville State got on the board with 2:57 remaining as Jamieson Crast (Mannsville, NY) found Nate McConnell (Buffalo, NY) for the six-yard passing score.

Hartwick responded seconds later to take the eight point lead off a one play, 56-yard passing score from Brian Radley to Noah Koreman. With 45 seconds remaining in the quarter, Crast brought the Mustangs within two, carrying the ball 39 yards into the endzone.

In the second quarter, DeMulder converted two quick scores for Hartwick as the Hawks took the 28-12 lead at the half.

Radley found Koreman early in the third quarter for a 35-yard passing score to extend the Hawk lead to 35-12 before Morrisville State’s Joe Shue (Fulton, NY) answered with an 11-yard scoring catch from Crast three minutes later.

DeMulder added his fourth and fifth scores midway through the third, carrying the ball 17- and 20-yards respectively, giving Hartwick the commanding 49-18 lead at the end of three.

Morrisville State’s Sean Barrett (Hopewell Junction, NY) had the lone score in the fourth, converting on a five-yard run with 3:39 remaining in the game.

Morrisville State recorded a total 390 yards offense on the night, 192 on the ground, 88 each from Maurice Mitchelson (Bronx, NY) and Crast, who was also 17-for-28 in passing for 198 yards and three scores. Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY) caught four for 78 yards, leading the Mustangs receiving unit.

DeMulder carried the ball 20 times for 167 yards and five scores as Radley went 9-for-18 in passing, totaling 252 yards and two scores, 232 yards on seven passes to Koreman.

Defensively, EJ Maeweather (Syracuse, NY) tallied eight tackles, five solo, to lead Morrisville State with Dennis Drywa (East Islip, NY) and Tommy Moyon (Woodside, NY) each contributing six.

Jordan Spirou led the Hartwick defense with nine total tackles.

Morrisville State returns to the field Saturday, Sept. 12 at SUNY Cortland. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the SUNY Cortland Stadium.
