Morrisville State men’s soccer took a 2-0 lead over host Penn State Abington Friday afternoon, Oct. 23 but couldn’t hold on as the Lions netted four straight over the course of 13 minutes late in the second half to claim the 4-3 victory in Abington, Pennsylvania.
Andrew Stein (Oswego, NY) broke the scoreless half, netting the first score for the Mustangs on a penalty kick opportunity in the 39th minute of play to give Morrisville State the one goal advantage at the half.
Sanley Pierre-Louis (Nyack, NY) extended the lead for the Mustangs, netting an unassisted score at 63:44, as Morrisville State held the 2-0 advantage.
In the 72nd minute the momentum of the contest shifted to Abington as Elsion Pajollari cut the Morrisville lead to one, netting the first Abington score of an assist from Mohamed Mohamedein. Within five minutes, Liam Hopkins evened the contest at two, netting the score at 77:42 off a corner kick from Sebastian Hernandez.
Pajollari added his second score of the afternoon at 85:03 and Hernandez capitalized on a corner kick 56 seconds later as Abington quickly snatched the 4-2 lead over the Mustangs.
Jarrett Hayes (Potsdam, NY) brought Morrisville State within one, but time quickly expired and the Mustangs dropped to 3-8-1 overall on the season.
Greg Igglesden (Norwich, NY) saved five in the loss for the Mustangs who returned to the field Sunday for a rematch with SUNY IT. Earlier in the season, the game was called in the 68th minute due to lightning.
