Christine Kemp scored twice to lead #12 nationally ranked Skidmore College to a 5-0 non-conference field hockey victory over visiting Morrisville State College Friday afternoon Oct. 16 in Saratoga Springs.
Kemp netted the first score just three minutes into the contest on a penalty stroke, giving Skidmore the early 1-0 advantage.
Elise Britt increased the Thoroughbred lead to two, netting the score in the tenth minute of play. Brittney O’Brien added her ninth of the season at 23:22 as Skidmore took the 3-0 lead heading into the half.
In the second, Kemp quickly added her second of the afternoon at 42:47 off a Katie Potter pass, for the four goal lead.
Ceilidh MacNeill rounded out Skidmore scoring with the fifth Thoroughbred score in the 56th minute.
Morrisville State’s Stephanie Smith (Cedarville, NY) recorded 13 in the loss in net, as the Mustangs drop to 5-11 overall on the season.
Liz Catinella earned the shut-out victory, saving none, as Skidmore improved to 10-3 overall.
Skidmore held the 29-2 advantage in shots and 20-2 in penalty corners over the Mustangs.
Morrisville State returns to the field tomorrow at RPI.
