Fifth seed Keuka College women’s volleyball posted an upset over top seed Morrisville State College on the first day of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Tournament, handing the Mustangs a 3-0 defeat at Penn State Berks in Reading, PA.
Keuka raced out to a two game advantage as Morrisville State attempted to put together an offensive game, but edged the Mustangs in the third to claim the win with game scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-22.
Amanda Britton (Cazenovia, NY) led the Mustang efforts with 11 kills while Ebony Whitfield (Benton Harbor, MI) added nine kills and two service aces, while stopping three at the net. Keli Stewart (Interlaken, NY) added 17 assists as Casie Kimbrell (Croghan, NY) tallied eight defensive digs.
Morrisville State returns to the court tomorrow for a must-win situation to advance to the semi-final round, facing eighth seed Penn State Berks at noon and fourth seed University of Dallas at 4 p.m.
