Madison County Announces Next H1N1 Clinics

Madison County Announces Next H1N1 Clinics thumbnail

(Wampsville, NY) The Madison County Health Department has completed H1N1 clinics at Brookfield, Stockbridge, Chittenango, Hamilton, and Madison Central Schools. The next scheduled H1N1 school clinics for students by district are: December 14th for Morrisville-Eaton, December 15th for Cazenovia, December 16th for Oneida, and December 21st for Canastota Central School Districts.

School clinics are only open to enrolled students. The details, times, and locations of each school clinic vary by district. Each school district is sending home to parents/guardians a letter about their school clinic and a consent form. Only students that have returned their completed consent form will be able to get vaccinated at their school clinic.

Students who missed their school clinic will have the opportunity to get vaccinated at other Health Department clinics.

In addition to school clinics, the Health Department has scheduled H1N1 clinics in Wampsville on December 18th, December 29th, and December 30th to reach priority populations for vaccination. Eligible residents can schedule an appointment online at www.healthymadisoncounty.org.

As vaccine supplies are currently limited, clinics continue to target the recommended H1N1 priority groups for vaccination. The initial H1N1 priority groups are:

  • Pregnant women
  • Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age
  • Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel
  • All people from 6 months through 24 years of age
  • Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.

Although flu activity is decreasing at this time, it is important for residents to get vaccinated as a third wave of increased H1N1 flu activity is expected this flu season. Remember, it’s never too late to get vaccinated to protect your family or yourself from the flu!

Additional H1N1 flu clinics will be scheduled throughout the flu season. Once the priority groups for vaccination have been reached, H1N1 clinics will open to anyone who would like to get vaccinated.

Residents and family members can get more information and view the latest schedule of H1N1 flu clinics anytime by visiting the Madison County Health Department website at www.healthymadisoncounty.org.
