(Chittenango, NY) The Chittenango Varsity Cheerleaders and coach Ginny Marasco are charging up for the last home game of the season on Friday, October 16th. In addition to raising the heat of the Bears team spirit, the cheerleaders will be raising money to benefit Madison County Habitat for Humanity. The team has organized a bottle drive to benefit the Chittenango Build, and will have a truck in the parking lot during the football game to collect returnable bottles and cans.
Coach Marasco contacted Habitat for Humanity late in the summer after hearing about the home under construction in Chittenango, and said “I have 16 strong and healthy 15, 16, and 17 year old girls who can be put to work wherever you need. We want to help make it happen. What can we do?”
Fundraising Leader Betsy Scheu was grateful that the team came forward, and invites other groups and organizations to contact Habitat for Humanity for ideas on how they can do the same. According to Scheu, the cheerleaders’ initiative and interest in supporting the project is an encouragement to the Chittenango Build volunteers.
To contact HFH’s Chittenango Build team, call Coordinator Dennis Doerr at 687-7355, or via email at ChittenangoBuild@gmail.com. The volunteer workday schedule is available online at www.HabitatforHumanityChittenango@ning.com. Donations and inquiries can be mailed to HFH Chittenango Build, P.O. Box 12, Chittenango NY 13037.
Attending the football game? Bring your gloves because it could be a little frosty, and remember to bring empty bottles and cans to benefit Madison County Habitat for Humanity.
