Madison Cortland ARC is pleased to announce that applications are currently being accepted for the following scholarships offered by NYSARC, Inc.: James F. Reville, Joseph T. Weingold, Jonathon Weingold and Arthur Pense.
Joseph T. Weingold Scholarship
Presented every year to a sophomore student enrolled in a graduate degree program in education leading to certification in Special Education. ($750.00 per semester for 2 years). The Joseph T. Weingold Scholarship is eligible to students who are enrolled in a degree program leading to special education certifications. Nominations are made through the Special Education Division of the Department of Education of colleges and universities in New York State with degree programs leading to Special Education Certification. Interested persons should see the appropriate chairperson at their school for details.
James F. Reville Scholarship
Presented every year to a high school graduate enrolled full time in any year of their college training in a field related to developmental disabilities. ($750.00 per semester for 2 years). Eligible applicants for the James F. Reville Scholarship are high school graduates and enrolled full time in any year of their college training in a field related to developmental disabilities and who have been actively involved in serving individuals who are developmentally disabled in some capacity. Two (2) individuals in New York State will be selected to receive the $3,000 scholarship. One Madison Cortland ARC application will be selected for recommendation to NYSARC.
Arthur Pense Scholarship
Presented every year to a student enrolled in a four or five year degree program in occupational or physical therapy at a college or university in New York State. The scholarship is for the last two years of study. The Arthur W. Pense Scholarship is eligible to students enrolled in a four-year or five-year degree program in Physical or Occupational Therapy. Nominations for the scholarship are submitted to NYSARC through the chairperson of the Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy Departments at colleges and universities throughout New York State offering four or five-year degree programs in Physical or Occupational Therapy. Interested students should see the appropriate chairperson at their school for details.
Jonathan Weingold Scholarship
Presented every year to full-time employees of NYSARC chapters who wish to further their education. $3,000 total for the winner for 2 years ($750.00 per semester for 2 years) and $1,000 total for the runner up ($250 per semester for 2 years). One Madison Cortland ARC application will be selected for recommendation to NYSARC.
All submissions must be returned to Madison Cortland ARC Public Relations Department at 701 Lenox Ave., Oneida, N.Y. 13421 by Dec. 31, 2009. For further information on how to apply contact Jolene Cleaver 315-363-3389 ext. 1610 or by email at jcleaver@madisoncortlandarc.org.
An announcement of all scholarship winners will take place in May.
The NYSARC Scholarship Program was established to encourage students interested in pursuing a career in special education and related fields.
