Amanda Bury and Jim Jurista to be honored; Dr. John Robert Greene to deliver keynote
Cazenovia, N.Y.- The Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce (GCACC) will host its 13th Annual Dinner Meeting on Thursday, November 5. Guests will gather in the Morgan Room, Hubbard Hall at Cazenovia College to hear remarks from Chairman Ralph Monforte and keynote speaker Dr. John Robert “Bob” Greene, the Paul J. Schupf professor of history and humanities at Cazenovia College. Greene, a panelist on “The Ivory Tower Half Hour,” the popular political talk show carried Friday evenings on WCNY-TV, will talk about political headlines—national and local—and take questions and comments from guests.
Following Greene’s speech, the Chamber will proudly recognize two individuals for their loyalty to the GCACC and overall entrepreneurial spirit. Amanda Bury, owner of Amanda Bury Antiques, will receive the Business of Honor Award. According to its description, the award is given to a “business that demonstrates a continued commitment to Chamber initiatives and a stewardship to the Greater Cazenovia community.” Bury, a native of Morrisville, N.Y., and 1978 alumna of Cazenovia College, was part of the Association of Cazenovia Business, prior to the creation of GCACC. She is highly involved with the Chamber’s Advertising and Historic Cazenovia Business District sub-committees. Her business has been deeply rooted in the heart of the Village of Cazenovia for 28 years.
Jim Jurista, owner of Ravenglass Technologies, Inc., will receive the Award for Service. According to nomination standards, “the individual is devoted to moving the Chamber forward to fulfill its mission and is dedicated to contributing their time and talents towards achieving Chamber goals.” Jurista teamed with Gerry Hook, Kevin Mann, Betsy Powers and Karen Schai to spearhead the creation of the Chamber’s official Web site. He has participated on the Chamber’s public relations and Web site sub-committees. Since 2003, Jurista has maintained and operated Cazenovia Pilot (www.cazpilot.com), an online news source which highlights the Cazenovia, N.Y. area.
The Annual Dinner Meeting is open to the public by advance reservation only through October 30. A reception will begin at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. The cost for the event is $35 per person or $250 for a table of eight, and reservations can be made by contacting the Chamber Office at 315.655.9243 or cazchamber@windstream.net.
