To the Editor:
We would like to thank the Voters of the Town of Lebanon for returning us to office for another term.
We ran a positive campaign based on our records of accomplishment and public service, and our support of open, efficient government.
Our efforts saved the taxpayers over $1 million in road and related costs over the last 8 years, and we have maintained a town government that is respected by many other townships within and outside of Madison County. We are proud of our cooperative work as a township in which all views and opinions are respected. We will continue to govern in this manner.
While we are extremely grateful to the number of voters who turned out to participate in the local election, we are disappointed in the dishonorable tactics of some of the supporters of our opponents who used misinformation, repeated vandalism of election signs and divisive tactics to attempt to divide the community. We are also disappointed that our opponents never once during the campaign chose to speak out in the news media against such tactics and remained silent while these practices continued up to and during Election Day.
We are pleased and proud that our positive bi-partisan campaign that focused on the issues and our records in office prevailed, and we are privileged and honored to be chosen to serve another term as your elected officials. We look forward to working together to serve the public as we have done in the past and to unifying the township behind common goals and concerns.
We also want to extend our congratulations to our friend and neighbor, Allen Riley, for his successful campaign and election as our county’s next Sheriff,
Yours truly,
Jim Goldstein, Supervisor, Democrat/Open Government, Conservative and Independence Party candidate, South Lebanon Road
Alex Hodge, Highway Superintendent, Democrat/Open Government, Republican candidate, Vosburgh Road
LIsa Thomas, Town Clerk/Tax Collector, Democrat/Open Government, Independence Party candidate, River Road
