Dan Sweeney (New Cannan, Conn.) posted three wins in his collegiate debut, but it wasn’t enough as Lehigh posted a 195-105 victory over Colgate in men’s swimming action, Saturday Oct. 31 at Jacobs Pool.
The freshman captured the 50 (21.76) and 100 free (47.77) races and then teamed with Costas Hadjipateras (New Cannan, Conn.), Nicholas Pawlush (Hummelstown, Pa.), and Tucker Gniewek (Mountain Lake, N.J.) to capture the final event, the 400 free relay with a time of 3:10.83.
Posting the other two first places on the afternoon were Hadjipateras in the 200 free (1:44.02) and Nick Burkus (Weston, Mass.) who won the three-meter diving (226.19).
The Raiders had five second place efforts against the Mountain Hawks – Casey Powers (Chappaqua, N.Y.) in the 1000 free (9:58.80); Gniewek in the 100 back (53.73) and 100 free (48.24); Burkus in one-meter diving (226.19), and Hadjipateras in the 100 fly (52.61).
Colgate returns to action next weekend as it travels to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to take on Boston College and Boston U, Saturday Nov. 7 and Sunday Nov. 8.
