Morrisville State women lose 9-1 to Penn State Berks thumbnail

READING, P.A.­ –The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team lost by eight goals today to Penn State Berks, making their overall record 1-5
 
Only two minutes into the game, the Mustangs took an early lead with a goal from Angela Card (DeRuyter, NY), a shot to the lower left corner, assisted by Kristin Smith (Hamilton, NY).
 
Nearly two minutes later, Nittany Lions answered back with a goal from Ariel Fuentes (Easton, PA), netted off a corner kick. 
 
Penn State Berks scored an additional two goals to finish the first half, one from Megan Olah (Brodheadsville, PA) assisted by Alex Volvar (Hershey, PA), and the other from Brooke Kern (Kutztown, PA) with an assist from Shannon Smith (Kunkletown, PA).
 
The Mustangs went into the second half down by two. A minute and 45 seconds into the half, Fuentes struck again, this time with a goal from a penalty kick, making the score 4-1, Penn State Berks. 
 
In the 53rd minute of play, Kern netted another one for the Lions, this time a header off a cross from Smith. 
 
With 62:39 on the clock, Smith puts the ball in the top corner for her first goal of the game, the Lions’ sixth.
 
Less than two minutes later, Fuentes makes it a hat trick, scoring her third of the game with an assist from Volvar.  The Penn State Berks women finished the game with goals from both Volvar and Kern, making the final score 9-1. 
 
The Mustangs return to the field Thursday, Sept. 24, playing at SUNY Utica/Rome at 4 pm.
