Harmonie Calinda posted a match-high 14 kills and Lisa Doremus added 12 as Stony Brook downed Colgate 25-20, 25-16, 25-17 in the fifth match at the Harvard Invitational, (Sept. 5) Saturday afternoon at the Malkin Athletic Center.
Earlier in the day, the University of Toledo swept by the Raiders 25-23, 25-18, 25-23. Colgate fell to 1-3 on the year.
Kaleigh Durket (Eldorado Hills, Calif.) led the offensive attack in the late match with a team-high nine kills and established a career-high 13 digs. Casey Ritt (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Maureen Colligan (Odessa, Fla.) each tallied four kills in the loss. Devon Applegate (Davidson, N.C.) tied Durket with a team-high 13 digs.
In the opener, Durket and Logan Keala (Kanehoe, Hawaii) tied for the team high with nine kills each, while Kaylee Dougherty (Landisville, Pa.) added seven in kills against the Rockets. Meghan Fanta (Hillsboro, Wis.) tallied a double double with 22 assists and tied for the team lead with Applegate with 12 digs.
Toledo, which improved to 5-0, was led by Amber DeWeerdt’s 13-kill effort.
Colgate returns to action next Friday, Sept. 11 as it travels to compete in the Long Island University Invitational.
The Raiders will square off with LIU-Brooklyn in their opening match Friday and then will play a pair of contests against the University of Georgia and Siena, Saturday, Sept. 12.
