(Hamilton) Five different members of the 2009 Colgate field hockey squad received end-of-year recognition as the annual team awards were recently announced.
Outgoing seniors Katelyn Nerbonne (Bow, N.H.) and Mika Ella-Tang (Port of Spain, Trinidad) received the Most Outstanding Offensive Player and Most Outstanding Midfielder awards, respectively.
Nerbonne, a three-time Patriot League honoree, completed her career with seven goals and six assists for 20 points. She was ranked among the league leaders in several statistical categories. The 2006 Patriot League Rookie of the Year and a 2008 second team all-league recipient, finished her collegiate career with 65 points, which ranks in a tie for fourth on the all-time point list at Colgate.
Ella-Tang, a second team all-league selection, completed her career among the all-time leaders in Colgate history in assists. The senior added six helpers to her career total in 2009, which moved her into sixth place in Colgate history.
Allison Waugh (Briarcliff Manor) was honored as the Raiders’ defensive player of the year. The junior played in 15 of 16 games for Colgate and posted two points on the year. Waugh scored her lone goal of the year versus Siena.
