Casey Powers (Chappaqua, N.Y.) was the lone Colgate swimmer to post an individual victory as the Raiders dropped a 194-83 decision to Dartmouth in men’s swimming and diving action, Sunday afternoon Nov. 22 at the Karl Michaels and Spaulding Pool.
The sophomore led a one-two-three sweep ahead of Devon Healy (New Canaan, Conn.) and Nick Amato (East Norwich, N.Y.) in the 1650 by posting a winning time of 16:51.29. Powers came back to post a winning time of 4:52.74 in the 500 free.
Colgate’s only other two victories came in the opening and closing events. The foursome of Dan Sweeney (New Canaan, Conn.), Teddy Perley (Harrison, N.Y.), Costas Hadjipateras (New Canaan, Conn.), and Tucker Gniewek (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:37.49. Robert Rutkowski (Lititz, Pa.) joined Gniewek, Sweeney and Hadjipateras to swim a 1:26.13 in the 200 free relay.
The Raiders received a pair of seconds from Gniewek in the 50 (21.67) and 100 (47.69) free events, while Hadjipateras swam a 1:46.33 in the 200 free, which also placed second. Healy posted a 2:16.60 in the 200 breast to gain second-place points.
Colgate, 0-4 overall, returns to action January 9 as it hosts Bucknell.
