BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Host SUNY Brockport (3-5, 2-5 NJAC) raced out to a 31-7 halftime lead and finished the game with 516 total offensive yards and nine scores to hand visiting Morrisville State College the 59-28 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) loss Saturday afternoon in Brockport.
Brockport took the 17-0 lead after the first quarter before the Mustangs were able to muster a score on a nine-yard run from sophomore quarterback Jamieson Crast (Mannsville, NY) with 12:11 to go in the second.
The Golden Eagles responded with five straight scores taking a commanding 52-7 lead heading into the final stance.
In the fourth, Crast connected with receivers Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY) and Joe Shue (Fulton, NY) for three scores to cut the lead to 21, but the Mustangs ran out of clock as Brockport picked up the win.
Crast connected on 23-of-34 passes for 218 yards and three scores, while adding 35 yards on 18 carries on the ground for a score. Hodges Sneed (Syracuse, NY) led the receiving unit with nine catches for 86 yards, while Gordon added 46 yards and two scores on four catches and Shue 30-yards on a single scoring catch.
Anthony Brown (Rochester, NY) led the Mustangs defensive efforts, stopping 12, five solo, including one for a loss of two yards. Darry Albright (Long Beach, NY) added nine to the Mustangs efforts.
Brockport quarterback Jake Graci was 16-for-28 in passing for 263-yards and four touchdown scores, six passes to Matt Newman who tallied 118 yards on the afternoon. Aaron Zurn led the rushing game for the Golden Eagles, carrying the ball 19 times for 90 yards and two scores while teammate Andrew McCormick added 10 carries for 71 yards.
Nathan Bull led the Brockport defensive unit with 10 total tackles, eight solo, including two for a loss of four yards.
Morrisville State (1-8, 1-7 NJAC) returns to the field for the final time in 2009 on the 7th, hosting Buffalo State College at 12 p.m. at Andy Kerr Stadium on the Colgate University campus.
