(Hamilton – Nov. 29, 2009) Nov. 29 is the first day of Advent. The churches of Hamilton invite the public to a joint ecumenical service at 4 p.m. at the First Baptist Church to inaugurate this period of holy waiting.
The service will feature the lighting of the first Advent candle, a Jesse tree, the well- known hymn, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” and a musical offering by the Blue Parsley Boys men’s singing group as well.
The different congregations will take turns leading sections of the service, with prayers and symbols that are appropriate to the worship life of each. Association members are First Baptist Church, Park United Methodist Church, St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, the Randallsville New Life congregation, and the Hamilton Bible Fellowship.
