MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State College western equestrian team opened the 2009-10 season with two wins, claiming high point team honors in the morning show with 31 points and high point team honors in the afternoon with 28 team points.
In the morning show, Hilary Huttleson (Greene, NY) and Jill Featherly (Hilton, NY) tied for reserve high point rider honors, following their performances in their respective classes.
Featherly was third in reining and second in open western horsemanship, while Huttleson claimed fifth in reining and took top honors in the open horsemanship class.
Five other riders claimed the top spot in the show: Kristiana Janacek (Gales Ferry, CT) in advanced horsemanship; Serafina Gagliardi (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) in novice horsemanship, section B; Margaret Roberts (Weedsport, NY) in novice horsemanship, section C; Janae O’Brien (Woodstock, IL) in intermediate II horsemanship; and Ashley Kubiak (Greenwich, NY) in intermediate I horsemanship.
In the afternoon show, Featherly earned high point rider honors with a first place in reining and second in open horsemanship, while teammate Catherine Howland (Rutlandtown, VT) was reserve high point rider with a third in reining and first in open horsemanship.
Other blue ribbon winners for Morrisville State were: Heather Vaughn (Angellica, NY) in advanced horsemanship; Ella Littlefield (Sanbornton, NH) in novice horsemanship, section B; Erin Moseley in novice horsemanship, section C; Rebecca Gerrish (Naugatuck, CT) in intermediate II, section A; Paige Jerrett (Parish, NY) in intermediate horsemanship, section B; Breann Schwarting (Earlville, NY) in intermediate I; and Shannon Mayo (Westfield, MA) in beginner horsemanship.
Morrisville State returns to the riding arena, December 5, hosting a double show at the Swamp Road riding arena.
