The Madison County Democratic Committee announced today that the Madison County Corrections Officers Union has endorsed Allen Riley for the office of Madison County Sheriff.
“It is with sincere pleasure that I am able to send a note to you to express our endorsement of your pursuit for Madison County Sheriff,” wrote Tim Hogan, President/PEO for the MCCOU. “Teamsters Union officers, staff, and members are conscious of the experience, initiative, dedication and integrity you will bring to the office of Madison County Sheriff. We will continue to support your future endeavors and trust your continued commitment and allegiance to the position will maintain making a difference.”
MCDC Chairwoman Marianne Simberg said the party is thrilled with the announcement.
“I think this endorsement shows a trust of Al Riley by the people who work in the correctional facility in Madison County,” Simberg said. “I believe they picked up on the fact that he is a fair-minded, even-handed person who will deal with the problems at hand in a rational manner.”
Simberg said she believes Riley will continue exhibiting the characteristics she said he was known for among colleagues at the New York State Police.
“He likely will relate well to the staff as he has with his co-workers at the State Police, and from all I hear, he is seen as a principled, reliable, hard-working man who is easy to work with, but who sets limits,” Simberg said, “and people abide by them.”
