MORRISVILLE, N.Y. –The Morrisville State men’s soccer team lost a tough match today to Elmira College, making their overall record 3-11-1.
The Elmira Eagles netted their first goal 15 minutes into the first half, scored by Brian Haschke (Pittsburgh, PA) with an assist from Erik Lee (Suffield, CT), putting the Mustangs down by one going into halftime.
The Eagles second goal came from a penalty kick, netted by Jason Guernsey (Cherry Valley, NY) in the 67th minute of play. With less than 10 minutes left in game-play, Chris Stanford (Cazenovia, NY) netted an unassisted goal off a rebound, making the score 3-0.
In the 84th minute of the second half, the Eagles scored their fourth goal of the game, a one touch goal from Jeremy Brand (Cato, NY) from Elmira’s Alexander Poole (Chilmark, MA). The Mustangs ended the game with 4-0 loss.
The Mustangs sent a total of 21 shots in Elmira’s keeper Jared Micheller’s (Avon, CT) direction. Micheller tallied a total of eight saves throughout the game, while Morrisville’s keepers Greg Igglesden (Norwich, NY) and Joe Bunzey (Afton, NY) tallied 7 and 2.
The Mustangs return to the field Thursday, Oct. 29, playing at and against SUNY Canton at 6 p.m.
