To the Editor:
Madison County voters have the opportunity to elect a new sheriff for the first time in almost twenty years. With the recent retirement of Ron Cary, we are very lucky to have such a quality candidate in Allen Riley. His hard work, accountability, integrity, and professionalism make him the right man for this opening.
Allen is a lifelong resident of the county who has over 27 years of distinguished experience with the New York State Police. He has a deep passion for Madison County and the safety of its citizens–he was educated here, practices his faith here, has raised his family here, and runs a 110 acre farm here.
Allen has been married for 21 years and has two daughters, the oldest now being a freshman at Dartmouth College, has served as president and coach in the Sherburne Area Little League, and has been named American Legion Officer of the Year.
With such a long and accomplished career in law enforcement, Allen has acquired vast knowledge of laws, procedures, and criminal investigation and analysis. He knows how to manage people and administer programs, solve problems and resolve conflicts, has experience budgeting and managing finances, and has strong organizational and time management skills.
These qualifications, along with his great personal character and dedication to our community, make Allen ideal to be our next sheriff.
Allen Riley is not a partisan politician looking only to advance his career. He is a fine gentleman who is as deserving of this job as Madison County is to have him. I urge folks of all political stripes to vote for Allen Riley on Row A on Tuesday November 3.
