READING, PA – The Morrisville State College women’s volleyball team’s season came to an end Saturday afternoon, as they dropped two straight in the second day of pool play action at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships at Penn State-Berks in Reading, PA.
Morrisville State, the top seed in the tournament, fell in five matches to eighth seed Penn State Berks Saturday afternoon, by match scores of 25-20, 20-25, 25-13, 25-21, and 7-15.
Amanda Britton (Cazenovia, NY) and Ebony Whitfield (Benton Harbor, MI) led the Mustangs attack with 15 kills each while combining for four solo and three assisted blocks, with Britton adding 11 defensive digs. Casie Kimbrell (Croghan, NY) added six kills and eight defensive digs to the Mustangs efforts.
Keli Stewart (Interlaken, NY) assisted 30.
Later in the afternoon, Morrisville State faced fourth seed University of Dallas and fell in three with scores of 18-25, 13-25, and 16-25.
Whitfield led the Mustangs with six kills and four stops at the net while Britton tallied five kills and eight defensive digs.
Kimbrell added seven digs to the Morrisville State defensive efforts while Stewart tallied 30 assists.
Morrisville State concludes the season with a 13-16 overall record.
Morrisville State begins active membership within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Division III in 2009-10 and is eligible for NCAA Championship Tournament play.
