The Madison County Living Well Partnership announces the winners of the second annual Madison County Living Well at Work awards, which recognize the contribution that Madison County employers make to the health and wellness of their employees.
Community Action Partnership of Madison County (CAP) was recognized for their wellness program, which reimburses up to $50 per year per employee for sustainable health and wellness activities that actively involve participants in promoting a healthier lifestyle. Nearly half of CAP’s employees participated in the program in 2008.
Cazenovia College was recognized for offering a six-week “Walk Your Way to Wellness” program this past spring. Participants were encouraged to walk five days per week and were provided support, such as health tips, a suggested walking route near the college campus, healthy recipes, and an activity chart to log their progress. Nearly 75 employees and students participated in the program.
The Cazenovia Children’s House, Inc. has been increasing their participation and volunteerism in healthy events, such as their annual Chilly Chili 5 K Run and Walk fundraiser and other local fundraising walks. The child care center has also incorporated healthy eating and physical activity into their staff meetings and staff development days and has offered a staff yoga class this year.
A prize of $100 to be used for health and wellness promotion or to make improvements related to healthy eating, physical activity, or breastfeeding-friendly workplace was awarded to each winning workplace. The Living Well at Work Awards was made possible by the Madison County Health Department’s Diabetes Prevention Program, a grant from the New York State Department of Health.

The Madison County Living Well Partnership promotes community change that encourages people to eat well and be physically active.
