CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Keuka College Storm beat Cazenovia College and SUNY Cobleskill at Saturday’s North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) tri-match to take top honors for the day and improve to 5-10 overall.
Cazenovia split their two matches and now sits at 5-8 overall, while Cobleskill lost both of their matches and fell to 3-4
Keuka defeated Cazenovia, 4-1, in the day’s first match by scores of 25-22, 26-24 and 25-17. The Wildcats won the third set, 25-23.
Sophomore Lauren Harder (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) had a match-high 14 kills to lead the Cazenovia attack in the loss and also recorded four solo blocks. Jessica Converse (Rose, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) registered eight kills and tied for the team lead in digs with 18. Senior Ashley Kelley (Factoryville, PA/Lackawana Trail) also had 18 digs and Samantha Converse (Rose, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) led the Wildcats with 16 assists and chipped in nine digs. Taylor Cassavaw (Chateauguay, NY/ Chateauguay) contributed 11 assists and nine digs.
The Storm were led by Raelle Naegely’s 12 kills and Holly McHale’s 11 kills. Katy Geers and Demi Kauppinen each recorded 19 assists. McHale and Naegely were also active on defense with 19 and 12 digs, respectively.
Keuka then defeated Cobleskill, 3-0, in the second match of the day by scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-16.
McHale led the offense with a match-high nine kills and four service aces and also paced the defense with a match-high 10 digs. Kauppinen led the Storm with nine assists.
Andrianna Lyons led the Fighting Tigers with seven kills, while Samantha Burkhart had a match-high 16 assists. Nancy Stephens led the defense with six digs.
Cazenovia ended the day with a 3-0 victory over Cobleskill, beating the Fighting Tigers: 25-22, 25-21 and 25-17.
Harder recorded eight kills to lead Cazenovia offensively. Jessica Converse added seven kills and a team-high 13 digs. Samantha Converse supplied 14 assists and Lindsey Wood (Dundee, NY/Dundee) and Kelley each had double-digit digs.
Margaret Trombly led Cobleskill with five kills and 17 digs. Burkhart had a team-high 14 assists.
