Cazenovia’s Gillis Named NEAC Player of the Week thumbnail

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – Cazenovia College junior Matt Gillis (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) of the men’s soccer team has been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 7.

Gillis led the Wildcats with five goals in two victories over the weekend at the Alfred University Invitational, where Cazenovia won a share of the tournament title with Alfred.

Gillis netted three goals in a 5-1 win over Thiel College on Saturday, September 5 and followed that up with a two-goal performance in a 2-0 defeat of Hilbert College on Sunday, September 6. He was named to the all-tournament team for his performances.

Gillis currently leads the Wildcats (2-2) with 18 points on a team-high five goals and one assist.
