Cazenovia, NY – Cazenovia College hosts a number of events on and off-campus, most of which are open to the general public. Events are free unless otherwise noted.

Wednesday, Sept. 30, 4 to 5:30 p.m.:  Cazenovia College Art Gallery – An opening reception and artist’s lecture for “Ulluq: Encountering the North,” an installation by Thea Augustina Eck, an American artist currently living in Copenhagen, Denmark. The Gallery is on the corner of Sullivan and Seminary streets in Cazenovia. The exhibition runs through Friday, Oct.30. Hours during the academic year are: Monday through Thursday, 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Friday, 1-4 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 2-6 p.m. Summer hours vary. Saturday, Oct. 3, 6 p.m.: Cazenovia College’s Athletics Department hosts its annual Blue and Gold Dinner and Wildcats Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in the Morgan Room, Hubbard Hall. The cost is $30 per person, $100 for four or $200 for a table of eight. Reservations are necessary. Contact Shari Whitaker in the Office of Alumni Relations at 315-655-7332 to register. This event is part of Cazenovia College’s Homecoming/Family Weekend.

Sunday, Oct. 4, 2 p.m.: Cazenovia College’s Winifred Coleman Community Lecture Series: Connecting through Conversation at the Athenaeum of Skaneateles, 150 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles, N.Y., featuring faculty from Cazenovia College.  Lecture topic to be announced.

Monday, Oct. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Roadtrip Nation Green RV comes to Cazenovia College. The schedule includes a presentation for freshmen, and an opportunity for college students to talk with Roadtrip Nation members, as well as activities on campus for students. This event is NOT open to the public.

Sunday, Oct. 11, 2 p.m.: Cazenovia College’s Winifred Coleman Community Lecture Series: Connecting through Conversation at the Athenaeum of Skaneateles, 150 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles, N.Y., featuring faculty from Cazenovia College.  Lecture topic to be announced.

Tuesday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m.: Great Minds – Great Ideas Library Lecture Series at the Cazenovia Public Library, 100 Albany Street, Cazenovia, N.Y.  “Embracing Diversity in the Age of “Post Racial” America,” by Mona Ivey-Soto, assistant professor of education at Cazenovia College, will speak on “Embracing Diversity in the age of ‘Post Racial’ America.” Visit www.cazenovia.edu/greatminds for more information.

Tuesday, Oct. 20, 7 p.m.: Great Minds – Great Ideas Library Lecture Series at the Manlius Library, 1 Arkie Albanese Avenue, Manlius, N.Y. “Pierre Chareau: Maison de Verre (House of Glass),” by Elizabeth Moore, professor of interior design at Cazenovia College. Sunday, Oct. 18, 2 p.m.: Cazenovia College’s Winifred Coleman Community Lecture Series: Connecting through Conversation at the Athenaeum of Skaneateles, 150 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles, N.Y., featuring faculty from Cazenovia College.  Lecture topic to be announced. 

Thursday, Oct. 22, 7:30 p.m.: “An Evening of Classics” will be presented by the Cazenovia College Chorale and the Cazenovia High School Choir and Wind Ensemble, at the Cazenovia High School auditorium on Green St. in Cazenovia. The performance includes renditions of “The Neighbor’s Chorus” by Offenbach, “Va, Pensiero,” from “Nabucco” by Verdi, and “Homeland” by Holzt, arranged by Z. Randall Stroope. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m.: Cazenovia College’s Winifred Coleman Community Lecture Series: Connecting through Conversation at the Athenaeum of Skaneateles, 150 E. Genesee St., Skaneateles, N.Y., featuring faculty from Cazenovia College.  Lecture topic to be announced.

Monday, Oct. 26, 3 p.m.: Cazenovia College presents the Tenth Annual Paul J. Schupf Lecture in McDonald Lecture Hall, Eckel Hall on Lincklaen St. in Cazenovia. The speaker is Mary Beth Tinker, an important contributor to the civil rights movements of the 1960s–and one of the most important plaintiffs in the history of the United States Supreme Court.  She “was a 13-year-old junior high school student in December 1965 when she and a group of students decided to wear black armbands to school to protest the war in Vietnam.”  More information is available on the Internet at www.aclu.org/freespeech/youth/29035res20070316.html.
