2010 Restaurant Showcase Joins Madison County’s Third Annual Buy Local Week

(Madison County, NY) From July 19 through 24, 11 Central New York restaurants will be participating in Buy Local Week’s Restaurant Showcase by offering special menus prepared with produce and ingredients from local farms.

Participating restaurants include:

* Blue BBQ, 249 Genesee St., Chittenango, 687-2583, featuring red wine braised beef short ribs from Drover Hill Farms and vegetables from Henry Family Canaseraga Farms

* Circa, 76 Albany St., Cazenovia, 655-8768, featuring lamb from Meadowood Farms, chicken from Ingallside Meadows, beef from Maple Avenue Farms and produce from Smitty’s Market Farm

* Colgate Inn, 1 Payne St., Hamilton, 824-2300, featuring tenderloin and beet carpaccio, thinly shaved multicolored beets accompanied by an arugula salad with goats’ cheese beignet red wine beet vinaigrette all from Quarry Brook Farms

* Hamilton Inn, 4480 East Lake Road, Hamilton, 824-1245, featuring exotic wild mushroom elk burger using ground elk from the Back Forty Elk Farm and mushrooms from the Imaginary Farmer and field greens salad with grilled vegetables from the Hamilton Inn garden

* Hamilton Whole Foods, 28 Broad St., Hamilton, 824-2930, featuring goat cheese from Lively Run Goat Dairy and greens from Smitty’s Market Farm

* Hotel Solsville, 7243 Valley Road, Madison, 893-7698, featuring a variety of vegetables from Joe Juilano Farms, Tassleberry Farms, Savicki Farm Market and Twin Orchards

* Copper Turret, 17 W. Main St., Morrisville, 684-6699, featuring London broil salad – beef from Gerry Boone’s Farm and greens from Alambria Springs Farm

* Gary’s Restaurant, 6367 Lakeshore Road South, Canastota, 762-5516, featuring eggplant parmesan with a roasted vegetable marinara, grilled mixed vegetables over angel hair with fresh marinara, broiled haddock or grouper with roasted red peppers and mushrooms with choice of side with products from Tassone’s Farm, Swistak Farms, DeMario Farms and Sorbello’s Produce

* Poolville Country Store, 1245 Earlville Road, Poolville, 691-2677 or 363-3360, featuring salad field greens from Smitty’s Market Farm, sirloin steak form Ingallside Meadows, strawberry sorbet from Mosher Farms, and lavender ice cream from Linda’s Garden

* Someplace Else, 3177 Seneca Tnpk., Canastota, 875-5355, featuring chef’s signature burger – eight-ounce grilled Drover Hill Farm’s ground beef with peppered pancetta, smoked gouda cheese, caramelized onions and smoked chili aioli on a toasted onion roll and short ribs – dry aged Drover Hill Farms short ribs with flavors of brown sugar, tamarind and pineapple

FRESH! Gala Tickets on Sale Now

(Hubbardsville) The kickoff for the Madison County Buy Local Week 2010 happens on Sunday, July 18, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Endless Trails Farm and Guesthouse in Hubbardsville, just 10 minutes east of Hamilton.

The event, hosted by Madison County’s AED Program, is called the Fresh! Gala, a fundraiser that celebrates the diversity and vibrancy of Madison County agriculture. Local sponsors of Buy Local Week include Price Chopper, Cazenovia Equipment, National Grid, Cornell University’s Cooperative Extension of Madison County, Central New York Bounty, Madison County Tourism, Shapna Tea and Coffee and Serendipity Caterers.

The Endless Trails Farm and Guesthouse, owned and operated by Dave and Pam Williams and Dan and Melissa Williams is located at 8856 Larkin Road in Hubbardsville. The farm raises grass-fed beef under the name Sunnybrook Farm, which can be ordered by calling 841-8384. It is part of 340 acres of land adjacent to the Brookfield Trail System.

The trail system consists of 130 miles of groomed trails maintained by the state Department of Environmental Conservation. The trails are open to horse enthusiasts, mountain bikers, cross country skiers and snowmobilers. Horse owners who want to get away for a few days or a few weeks can stable their horses on the premises in the 12 horse stalls available for guest use.

The Fresh! Gala at this unique venue promises a great time for everyone with its beautiful setting in the outdoor covered pavilion, local food prepared by Stephanie Holzbaur’s Serendipity Catering, beer made with hops grown in Madison County at Foothill Hops Farm, live music by Larry Hoyt and the Good Acoustics and a silent auction.

Funds raised will be used to support the mission of the AED Program.

Ticket prices are $35 per person or $65 per couple and are available at 10 Price Chopper stores, including those located at 142 Genesee St., Oneida; Madison Marketplace on Route 12B north of Hamilton, 1917 Genesee St..
