(Canastota, NY) Wallace Johnson, a Canastota native and artist, will display his paintings at the Canastota Public Library during the month of November. An artist’s reception is planned for Thursday, Nov 12 at 7pm for Johnson in the library’s Lawson Community Room. This reception is at no charge and is open to the general public.
Mr. Johnson has always been an artist. Today, his abstract works are executed in oil, acrylic and gouache. While Johnson has Parkinson’s Disease, a neurological disease which often impairs the sufferer’s motor skills, speech, and other functions, Johnson feels that painting is a therapeutic activity for him. All of Wally Johnson’s paintings in this exhibit are on sale. Half of the proceeds from this exhibit will be donated to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) is a leading national presence in Parkinson’s disease research, education and public advocacy. The foundation funds promising scientific research to find the causes of and a cure for Parkinson’s while supporting people with Parkinson’s, their families and caregivers through educational programs and support services. Since its founding in 1957, PDF has funded over $80 million worth of scientific research in Parkinson’s disease, supporting the work of leading scientists throughout the world.
There is no admission charge to view Wally Johnson’s work at the Canastota Public Library. The library is located at 102 W. Center Street.
