Soldier receives new rank, new responsibilities thumbnail

(Canastota, NY) Maj. Gen. Joseph J. Taluto, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the promotion of Gary Marshall from Canastota of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of his capabilities for additional responsibility and leadership.

Marshall is serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 27th Brigade Combat Team Special Troops Battalion. He was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.

This promotion additionally recognizes the best qualified Soldiers and attracts and retains the highest caliber Citizen Soldier for a career in the New York Army National Guard.
