Canastota Rotary Club Begins Evening Meetings

Canastota Rotary Club Begins Evening Meetings thumbnail

Submitted by Robert Murphy

The Canastota Rotary Club has announced that it has begun holding an evening meeting the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The Dinner Meetings will be held at a different restaurant each month in the Canastota Area. October’s evening meeting will be held at The Three Pines, Peterboro Street, Canastota, directly across the street from the Red Apple.

This monthly evening meeting is in addition to their regular weekly Monday luncheon meetings, which are held at the Rusty Rail, Route 5, Canastota. The Tuesday evening meetings will be a report on what took place at the previous days meeting, as well as an update on events and activities taking place within the club.

By scheduling a monthly evening meeting, it is hoped that Rotary can attract additional members by making the club more available to those individuals whose work schedules interfere with the regular Monday noon weekly meeting.

Rotary International is the oldest service organization and has approximately thousands of club chapters worldwide with a membership of several hundred thousand. Rotary’s primary goal is the eradication of Polio worldwide and has been recently tapped by Mexico, Texas and countries along the southern border of the USA to lend its support and resources in helping a new world threat, Tuberculosis, which also was once thought to be eradicated but has made a resurgence.

Rotarians are very active service providers in the community, and lend their helping hands to many community projects in an effort to help make their community a better place for everyone. Rotary is an Organization created to help people. In addition to service projects, Rotary also sponsors high school Youth Exchange Programs overseas, Youth Leadership Training camps, as well as Service Exchange Teams and other very worthwhile and school and community projects to numerous to mention here.   Individuals interested in helping make their community a better place to live and learn more about Rotary are encouraged to come the first Tuesday of every month to a Rotary Meeting at 6:30 p.m., or by attending a weekly Monday 12 noon meting at the Rusty Rail  or by calling  697-8854.
