To the Residents and Businesses in the Greater Canastota area:
It is very apparent that the recent economic conditions have made it that much more difficult to provide for our homes and families. And the same is true for the not-for-profit agencies that provide critically needed programs to the people in the greater Canastota area. In addition these agencies are experiencing a reduction in government funding while seeing an unprecedented increase in the number of requests for services from our local residents.
The Board of Directors of the Canastota Community Chest has established a goal for the 2009/2010 campaign of $60,000 to continue our support of the following agencies:
American Red Cross Madison/Oneida Chapter – Disaster relief
Boy Scouts of America-Revolutionary Trails Council – Boy and Cub Scout troops
Canastota Boy Scouts – Local Troop 143 and Cub Scouts
Canastota Canal Town Corporation – Canastota Canal Town Museum
Canastota Children’s Council – Summer Enrichment Program
Canastota Recreation Commission – Winter Carnival and Summer Concerts
Catholic Charities Oneida/Madison Counties – Helping local people in need

Madison Cortland ARC – Making differences in lives of people with disabilities
Madison County 4-H Foundation, Inc. – 4-H Youth Fair
Madison County Children’s Camp – Free residential camp program for 109 local children
Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) – Matches seniors to volunteer opportunities
Ride for Life Equine and Family Center, Inc. – Christian therapeutic horseback riding
The Opportunity Shop – Local food bank and thrift store
Victims of Violence/Liberty Resources, Inc. – Helps victims of violent crimes

This goal is most ambitious and it is because we strongly believe in its purpose. Every effort is made to keep contributed dollars local and any donor can stipulate a specific agency or agencies to which they wish their dollars to go. This year’s campaign starts September 1st and will conclude on October 31st. Your support of this campaign and the vital help that it will provide will be greatly appreciated by the 23 agencies that support the greater Canastota area.
