To the Editor:
(Canastota, NY – Feb. 2012) The Board of Directors, volunteers and administrators of the Opportunity Shop would like to say thank you; we appreciate your continued support of all our programs.
Our food pantry served 1,264 households, which included 1,581 children, 2,368 adults and 189 seniors. We provided 125 Thanksgiving baskets filled with essentials for Thanksgiving dinner. Our Back-to-School Program provided 80 children with new clothing with which to start school. The Christmas Angel program provided clothing and toys for 215 children.
The Harvest Dinner that we have in the fall is our only fundraiser, so we depend on the generosity of the community and beyond to keep these important programs going. Thank you for attending our dinner that helps the impoverished in our community.
We would like to thank individuals, local businesses and the churches in the community, Canastota school groups, civic groups and anyone else who helped us in any way; we could not do it without you.
With your help, we have really made a difference in the lives of the people whom we serve. For the less fortunate who need our loving help, bless you all.
