Two-day event features horses of all breeds and colors
(Cazenovia, NY – July 2011) The 35th Lorenzo (carriage) Driving Competition begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday July 16 with the 5 mile off road marathon and at 9 a.m. on Sunday July 17 with both ring and obstacle classes. Spectators can expect to see horses of all breeds and colors hitched to ornate carriages with the back drop of the picturesque Lorenzo State Historic Site
The event, including parking, is free of charge. Spectators may want to bring along lawn chairs.
Parking can be accessed from the service driveway off Route 13 south.
A variety of vendors and a silent auction to benefit The Root Farm, a center for equine assisted therapies located in Verona will be offered to spectators on both days of the show.
Special Features to commemorate the 35th consecutive event include:
*A presentation by the Morrisville College 6 horse Belgian hitch on Saturday, rain date is Sunday
*Presentations by the Kateland Farms Miniature Horse drill team and the Root Farm Vaulting Team
*The popular Kids Corral will include craft making for the little folks and miniature donkeys
*Hats Off to Lorenzo Gala on Friday evening (reservations requested)
*Blue Grass, Brew and Barbeque on Saturday evening featuring the Lost Boys blue grass band (reservations requested)
